Get Involved!

Ready to get involved to help elect Republican candidates up and down the ballot?

Please see the action steps below to get involved!  Thank you!

1. Donate to the cause by going here. We do not receive any financial assistance from Federal, State or County sources, nor any candidate on the ballot.  We operate solely on donations from Central Committee members and the General Public.  Thank you for your consideration!

2. Vote for our Republican candidates in the General Election every two years. For information on registering to vote and the voting process in general, please check out our Register to Vote! page.  General elections are held in November of even-numbered years. Polls are open 7 AM to 8 PM.

3. Volunteer by door knocking, phone calling, and/or walking in parades for our Republican candidates.  Other opportunities include staffing the office, putting up yard signs, and writing letters to the editor.  Sign up to volunteer here. If you would like to volunteer for a specific Republican candidate instead of all Republican candidates in general, you can contact the individual Republican candidate's campaign and ask to volunteer.

4. Join the party by going here.

5. Attend a meeting of the Republicans of Black Hawk County Central Committee.  The Central Committee is the governing body of the Republicans of Black Hawk County.  Members of the Central Committee meet every third Thursday of the month at the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach building located at 3420 University Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701 at 7PM.  You can attend as a guest and you can request to join the Central Committee if there are openings available.

6. Vote in the Republican primary held every two years in Iowa.  Don't like the quality of candidates in the General Election?  By voting in the primary, you can have a say on who the Republican nominees are who will be on the ballot in November.  Primary elections are held in June of even-numbered years. Polls are open 7 AM to 8 PM.

7. Vote in City and School Board elections.  Although these offices are technically "non-partisan", it does matter who fills these positions and what their political philosophies are.  City elections and School Board elections are held jointly in November of odd-numbered years.  Polls are open 7 AM to 8 PM.

8. Attend City Council, Board of Supervisors, and School Board meetings to keep up-to-date with what is happening in your local community and to share your opinions on various local issues.

9. Participate in the Caucus to Convention process.  Every two years, Republicans across the State of Iowa hold a Caucus in their local neighborhoods and in presidential election years this is where the vote for the Republican nominee for President of the United States is held.  At this Caucus you can submit planks for the county platform and run for various committees which plan the county convention.  Delegates are elected to the county convention at the Caucus and the county convention elects delegates and alternates to a district convention, and a state convention.  The district and state conventions elect delegates and alternates to a national convention in presidential election years.

10. Be a poll watcher in the General Election held every two years. By being a poll watcher you can help ensure that the election is run with integrity and is free from voter fraud.  Please indicate your interest in being a poll watcher by selecting the "Yes, I will poll watch on election day" option on our Volunteer page here.
